It was day 10, and plenty of things had already been said.
"Yes, I was spying for Team Ultimatum." "Yes, I told them about the League's actions." "No, I don't know who my correspondent was." "No, I don't know much at all about them."
When the same question is asked ten, twenty, thirty times, you start to crack. It's only human nature. There was only one thing Erika wouldn't admit to, and that was any knowledge that what she did was wrong. In fact, the idea of herself as the only sane person grew stronger each day, as her sanity slowly deteriorated.
The cell wasn't bad, really. Sparse, maybe, but the bed was soft. She had all the toiletries she needed, and all sorts of spare clothes and books. The floor was carpeted, even. But it didn't have a window.
This small detail nagged at her like a missing puzzle piece, more than the cameras and lack of sharp objects. She even asked about it once or twice. "Can I have a room with a window?" The guard did not reply. "Please? I won't escape, you can bar it and everything." The guard did not reply.
The room was fully artificial, not even a fake plant to brighten her spirits. Daisy was the closest she had, the poor thing - as much as she tried to stand strong for her friend, she was getting tired of the constant adjusting of petals. No plants, no nature, no dirt. Well, a little dirt. A guard doing a search once tracked some mud in. She examined it carefully for seeds. There were none. It was wearing on her quickly.
The young woman was led into the interrogation room by two burly men. "Hi Steven," she said meekly, head down. "What do you want me to talk about today?" (When they came to get her out, Erika was holding her shoes in her hands with a angry, tear-stained face. "I'll break these cameras if I don't see a plant anytime soon," she had informed the guards. "Don't doubt me.")

a way to go through a week. Meeting Cynthia, traveling around, and now, having to arrest your close friend for spying on the Pokemon League with malicious intent. Steven didn't know what was worse and more disturbing; that she was telling the truth, or that she believed it was the right thing. Days have come and gone since Erika's incarceration within one of Kanto's maximum security prisons, and each day was more agonizing than the last. On the bright side, she was able to keep Daisy, and she had a decent room to stay. Well, decent enough for a prison cell, anyway. He also had some chances to visit her, aside from the usual interrogations. One could tell of how much of a mess Erika was, and how she was slowly losing herself from the whole ordeal. Every time that he would question her, Steven was met with a hollow and nearly soulless gaze when she wasn't hanging her head low. Steven could just hug the poor soul. Yet, he didn't exactly know what to make of her now. From the outside world, Erika's reputation was in flaming chaos. From here on, she would have to decide on her own of where to go next. Yet, at this rate, she'd be lucky is she didn't end up rotting in the horrid cell forever. Steven didn't want to think too much of it. He still wanted to see a hint of the friend he once knew. Another day in the interrogation room. How many days had it been since his last visit, he often wondered, and how was she holding up now? He kept a low and quiet tone as he talked to the two guards before taking his seat, across from Erika with a round, metal table separating them. "Hey Erika." Steven began to say. "How are you holding up?"[/div]

template by synchronicity

Erika didn't know how to answer his question. "How are you holding up?" She didn't seem to be holding up well at all, but it was impolite to discuss your emotions like that. She had been told not to depress people, even when she was feeling depressed hereself.
"I'm fine," she lied, trying to fake a smile to little success. "How are you?" At this point she didn't care about the civilites - she wanted someone to just tell her this would end soon. It didn't matter if she lived under lock and key all her life. All she wanted was to feel the scratchy texture of grass, the comfort of good growing soil on her skin, the moistness of morning mist. Along her lip were bitemarks, hallmarks of attempts not to cry. It was getting harder by the day.
Maybe -- maybe she could make an appeal to Steven? Surely, he would understand! Even if he didn't believe her about Team Ultimatum, if they were friends, he could -- Were they friends? He had been the one who locked her up without her plants in the first place. Erika didn't even know if she should trust him. The thought made her hesitate. "Sit," said one of the guards, and she did. "We'll be guarding the door, Mr. Stone." And so they left, leaving her quite alone with her old friend.
She let the room ring with silence for a moment. It was almost peaceful - if she closed her eyes, she could even pretend she was back in her gym - if it wasn't so damned dry. Erika looked up at Steven with a sudden resolve.
"Can I have a plant?" She asked, very serious. "Or- or something? A seed and some good dirt? Some gardening tools would be nice too-- a plant, really. Anything will do, I'm just --" Her own instincts stopped her. No, she couldn't admit it, even though it was written all over her face. If he asked the guards, he'd hear plenty of her instability. Her tattered psyche clung to the things it knew; manners and plants, manners and plants. "Please?"

twiddled his thumbs as Erika spoke on. The tension in the air could be cut with a chainsaw. Steven scratched his head and looked onto his watch nonchalantly as he spoke, "Well, I've been ok, Trying to keep things under control, meeting interesting folks, getting to the bottom of Ultimatum...nothing out of the ordinary for me." he finished, as a knock on the door came to ring throughout the room. Steven came to go over, open the door, and return with a warm cup of coffee, a little fuzzed from his day. "Forgive me." As he sat back down, he opened the plastic lid and twirled the mixture with a small white spoon. Looking back up at Erika, he came to let out a sigh and think about her request, odd as it was. A plant?, he thought to himself. Is she planning something? "Well," Steven said to break the silence, "I can't really say that I could give you an instant bonsai tree right this moment, but, maybe if you get reviewed for good behavior in the future, I could see into it." A sip. Steven looked to his watch again, as he was nearing the half-way point of his time with Erika for today. Another sip. Already?, he said in his mind, as he quickly turned to Erika, his smile set back into a neutral tone. Well, may as well make time for the League. Another sip. "So, let's pick up to where we left off." Steven said to Erika, taking up a file of the two's interview records. "Could you try and recall the first time you've made contact with Team Ultimatum?"[/div]

template by synchronicity

Of course, Steven was a busy man. Her own schedule used to be pretty packed just as a local organizer and gym leader; Erika could barely imagine how crazy his must be. "Sounds interesting," she said, voice hollow. "Make sure you rest." The words were mostly instinctual courtesy, but she tried to imbibe some feeling in it. It was almost hopeless. The young woman was absolutely miserable. Yet again, she was imprisoned after all.
"Go ahead," she said softly, taking no offense to the coffee. Tea sounded nice, but nothing sounded better than seeing something green and growing. Suddenly she found herself biting at her lip again as he explained the circumstances in which she could get a plant. Good behavior? She'd probably have to sleep more then, to keep herself from getting frustrated. Erika began to plot it out in her mind. She could occupy herself by reading most of the day, and playing with Daisy. Then they could sleep. Maybe they'd dream of nature, things that weren't so flat and artifical. "Thank you, I'll try my best." Hopefully, they'd decide she was a good girl soon enough.
And just like that, the questions started. She winced at the start. More serious talk. At least the awkward conversation before held some smattering of real human contact. This was like talking to a robot. "A few months ago. I got a call from an anonymous number telling me that Team Ultimatum wanted to have me spy. I refused, but then they explained the environment issue. Which I told you about already." Erika said, her voice emotionless. She couldn't remember if she had already told him that or not. Either way, it didn't matter.

listened carefully and nodded on. Of course, he believed her word for word. It wasn't like her to lie very well, as evidenced by personal experience. Flipping through the files, he came to look into the record of their first time together. There was stillness, anger, and sorrow. Having to watch Erika be treated like a low-life criminal came to sicken the trainer to his core, and the media circus around her leaked confession didn't help matters, either. For them, they were watching the fall of an idol, and for Steven, he was watching the end of a friend's life. "I see.", Steven finally started to say to Erika. "And as evidenced, you never attempted to try and warn anyone. You simply went with the flow until the end, and all of this mess for nature." he finished, slamming the file shut. He tapped on the floor and thought deeply to himself with a sigh. "Morally, one would want to question how you would trust the greatest band of criminals the regions have ever witness to help or even give a damn for the environment, of all things, and yet, there would be some merit." Steven said, sipping into his coffee once more. "Taking away their evil tendencies, they would be doing the right thing. Wishful thinking, of course." Steven came to get up and sit at the side of the table, closer to Erika. "Moving on, I'd like to know if you came to gain any knowledge of any of Team Ultimatum's dealings or plans, for the record..."[/div]

template by synchronicity

Erika felt mildly chided. "Nature is important," she clarified in a small voice. "Don't you understand?" Maybe that's why they wouldn't give her any of it? Was it a punishment? Paranoia began to churn softly in one side of her brain while the other side worked to shush it. Even impoliteness in her head was starting to become unacceptable. She just wanted to sleep. Sleeping was nice.
Her eyes widened a bit when he began to speak about Team Ultimatum. She - she wasn't sure, he was probably pointing out her foolishness, but for a moment she thought he was siding with her. They were evil, she knew that - but if they really could help the environment, it was worth it, right? "Sometimes the ends justify the means," she mumbled, mostly to herself.
"Not really. I heard Giovanni had a plan, but I was never informed of what it really was." In all honesty, she hadn't wanted to hear about their plans - she just wanted the war to end in their favor so that they could make a better world. The means were rather frightening, after all, and she was a peaceful person. Admittedly, a peaceful person that was now slowly going insane, but that was recent.
Something popped to her head. "Can I ask a question?" she asked, with a little bit of life. It was merely curiosity, but it was more energy than she'd had in a while, so she continued with it. "Have... there been any attacks or anything? Or is it still just strategizing?" Realizing how that may be interpreted, she bit her lip and tried to justify herself. "Not - not as in if anything is planned. I mean if anything big news has already happened. I don't know what's going on outside of my cell." Erika didn't even knew her fellow cellmates. For some reason, the idea of outside news placated her.
"If -- if you can't tell me that, is there anything going on in Celadon?" she asked. "Do you know how the girls are? Is there going to be another leader?"

as quickly as Steven finished his mini speech of Team Ultimatum, Erika came to give off a conclusion. The ends justify the means. Steven silently wonders if such a statement was ever true in the first place, good, evil or with any other intent. Steven gave off a sigh and listened on as Erika answered fully. "I see. Judging from that bit, Giovanni does have something brewing in this head, and with everything that's happened thus far, he's bound to put something in motion.", the champion thought out loud as he took a mental note. Something to bring up in the next League meeting...Steven cracked his neck as he leaned onto the wall, raising an eyebrow at Erika's sudden question. "Well, um, go ahead." As Erika said what she had to, Steven scratched his head again. Here we go..."Well, right now everyone and their grandmother have been head over heels about your confession lately.", he said as he took a recent tabloid magazine out of the file and tossed it towards the surface of the table, nearest Erika. "You can see for yourself. As the girls, they've gone their separate ways, along with the gym being closed, for the time being. Some have written you off as a traitor, others are wanting to free you, and the rest...well, they were quite torn. As for your leader position, and we would replace, if at all...we don't know yet. Of course, the public have been buzzing about "the next top Celadon Gym leader", but that's beside the point." Steven looked onto the lone door in the room, looking onto his watch once more as he tapped on the door. A creak of an opening came and went as he whispered to the guards. The door closed again, and he took another sip of his now near-empty cup. The trainer came to Erika and dropped a knee down to her side, holding on to her shoulder. "I'm running out of time now, so...take care, and uh...anything you want to say before the guards come in?"[/div]

template by synchronicity

Erika read over the tabloid silently, taking in the gossip with a grain of salt and a pinch of numbness. So it had gotten out - though the young woman had been in tabloids once or twice in her life for various reasons (sexuality scandals, an unbased pregnancy rumor, etcetera) but never the front page. The alarmist language almost made her want to laugh. "How long has Erika been a traitor? Has she been with Team Rocket from the start?" With lies like this, she had no doubt that most of the world hated her now.
So the girls... they'd move on. That was good. Her parents had probably heard, but they had never thought much of her in the first place. She vaguely wondered what Sabrina thought of it; she and Steven had been her closest friends, and she already saw his immediate reaction. The thought was painful, so she pushed it aside. "I see," she said, looking up from the newspaper. By the time she had, she suddenly realized Steven was by her side, toughing her shoulder in some attempted act of comfort. She got nothing from it but the understanding of it's purpose.
"Thank you for letting me keep Daisy," Erika answered, though she wasn't sure if that was his decision or not. "Take care, and good luck." With what, she wasn't sure. Her mind was running back to plants again. Concrete was driving her crazy.
And then the guards came in and instructed her to stand, leading her back to her carpeted, completely liveless room. Daisy waited for her on the bed, looking exhausted but trying to smile. Erika gave her one back and returned her to her PokeBall. The poor thing needed a rest from her neurotic habits - a good rest would serve her well. Anyway, she wanted to sleep some herself.
Laying down amougst the thick blankets - she supposed the point was that they were too thick to tear - Erika rested her eyes. Somehow, she kept finding herself looking at the ceiling instead. Sleep was eluding her, and she knew her Pokemon had long forgotten Sleep Powder, the spores of which had once made it so easy to doze off in her gym. When I get out of here, I should re-teach her it, she thought. If I can ever get out of here.

DAY 10 | [bg=d3d3d3][atrb=style,padding: 20px;] RAINA / DROP MARS It was all so simple really. Pop in, off a few, grab a gym leader, hop off, be a hero, yadda-yadda whatnot. Yet, Drop was far more classier than that. At least, a lot more than the weaker half that called itself "Raina". She despised the little waste of genes, yet, it wasn't like she could up and strangle her. They had the same body, the same mind. Like it or, she had to deal with it.
Then again, stabbing herself wasn't too out of the question.
Nonetheless, she had her mission to focus. Walking through the visitor area of the prison, her armless and hooded jacket obscuring her face like the grim reaper, ans her ears consumed by ear buds that hummed darkened tunes, she came to be quite bored, and relatively fast at that. Earlier, she had just caught the Hoenn champion, Steven, leaving off to who-knows-where. She would've loved to stalk the cutie, but that will have to wait for another day. After much waiting, the woman came up to the desk with a smile what could melt an ice cube. "Erika, please. I am a friend."
"Sorry, miss, but visiting hours have passed." the attendant said to Drop, bluntly. Yet, before the woman could retort, a bundle of guards began to surround her. "Freeze, hands in the air!" Drop simply rolled her hidden eyes and turned, her hands stained with blood. Did she ever mentioned that's she's already had her fun with two other guards earlier?
"Oh no, it's the police. Welp, my mission's gone to poop.", Drop nonchalantly spoke as the guards came closer to her, handcuffs at the ready. Her ominous whistles filled the room, her feet tapping. Her mind was trained and ready.
An Excadrill and a Vespiqueen were rummaging through the electricity. Five. One of them finding the fuse boxes with glee. Four. Sounds of slashes and sparks filled the air. Three. Darkness overcame the prisons, sirens and flashes of red light came through. Two. "G-get her!!" one of the guards said, as they came to charge at her. A Pokeball with a Zangoose on one hand, and on the other, Chandelure. One.

Suddenly, darkness took her vision. Erika's breath caught her throat for a moment -- and then the sirens started. Jumping out of bed with senses on high alert, Erika released Daisy from her PokeBall. Quickly, the flower Pokemon moved close to her trainer, ready to protect her from any danger. She couldn't see - there were no alarm lights in her room - so she relied on her hearing to discern what could possibly be going on.
A break-in? An escape? she thought, trying to hear over the commotion of the sirens. There was yelling and footfalls, but nothing gave her any real idea. For a moment, she considered having Daisy use Sunny Day, before realising it's uselessness in this situation. In another useless bet, she pushed on the heavy door out of her cell, to no result. The door was locked the old fashion way - a smart idea in a prision such as this.
The adrenaline rush was giving her a headache. Maybe they've come for me, she thought. Maybe they valued her skills enough to crack her out of Kanto's biggest prison... heh. That was a laugh. A second rate hippie gym leader, being dug out by Team Ultimatum after totally failing them. Like that would happen. Still, the thought stuck in her mind like a burr.
If they get me out, I'll see trees again. And grass. And Pokemon. And even if they didn't, she could find her own way out, right? She blindly looked down in the direction of Daisy. Her Solar Beam could be strong enough to melt the door, if no one was there watching it.
That said, the risk of failure was high -- and the consequence was steep. The condition for Steven giving her a plant had been good behavior. Breaking out wasn't quite in those boundaries. The idea reeling in her mind, she dropped to her knees next to her Pokemon. "Shh, don't worry Daisy. It'll be over soon." It was more for her own benefit, but she wasn't above a little self-deception.

DAY 10 | [bg=d3d3d3][atrb=style,padding: 20px;] RAINA / DROP MARS Steel. The taste of blood was always such a delight to the hooded agent, covered in crimson and surrounded by bodies, of guards and bystanders. Creeping over the lumps of lifeless flesh, she came to pity the innocents that took the unfortunate decision to come to prison today. Then again, they were quite dumb enough to communicate with low-life rats, anyway. As they say, let them rot. Silently, she came through the corridors with Loki and Medusa by her sides, marching along the blood stained battlefield.
Wolverine and Siren were not to far ahead, as they were separated to search for Erika ahead of time. As for Drop's Mawile, Audrey, and Snowflake, her Froslass? They've been more than occupied with the guards in the security and camera surveillance rooms. Needless to say, most wouldn't be seeing their retirement day anytime soon. One could hear the sounds of chaos and murder from a mile away, and for Drop, her job was all the more sweeter for it. 'tis a good day for a little anarchy.
"Erika~ Where are you, sweetie?", she softly said, letting her voice carry out the empty rooms as she looked into her phone with a downloaded layout of the whole prison. As she went along, escapees would come to charge at her. Those who would come to harm, steal, have their way with her, or anything, came to fall and burn like toy soldiers at the non-existant mercy of Drop's Pokemon. "Now, don't make too much a mess, you two." she said with a child's laughter as she twirled a stained, makeshift shank on her hand. . "Leave some for me~." They disappeared within the darkness, continuing the follow the scent of the Celadon girl. Not too long now. I wonder how cute she is up close. | [bg=0e0e0e][atrb=style,padding: 10px; font-family: courier new; color: #d3d3d3; text-align: center; letter-spacing: 5px;]TEMPLATE CODED BY RAIN FROM OTE |

Erika's heart thudded in her chest. She could hear more clearly now, and almost wished she couldn't. The sounds of the dead and the dying rattled around her brain and churned in her stomach as she clutched to her Pokemon. There were screams of agony and pain all around her. Something terrible was happening outside. This had to be Team Ultimatum - or just a wandering psychopath. Daisy struggled out of her trainer's grip and stood before her, ready to attack anything that came through the door with an instant's notice. The young woman's heart swelled in love of her oldest friend.
Unfortunately, the good feeling didn't last for long. As the cries grew closer, a voice bounced through the metal-clad building, sounding young but ominous. It took her a moment to realize what was being said. Someone was calling for her, calling her sweetie. She didn't recognize the voice, but for some reason she knew they weren't going to hurt her... At least, not right now. It didn't mean she wasn't scared out of her wits that all this carnage could be her fault. Erika began to knaw anew at her lip, a prickle of blood starting to flow. She licked it away and tried to concentrate her thoughts.
There were only two choices now. She could hide, or she could call out to her... potential rescuer. There was the smell of burning - Daisy might not be of any use, and the rest of her team was conveniently in the League's possession right now. If this person turned out to be against her, she was helpless -- but yet again, if that was the case, she would be found anyway. Giving herself up and showing signs of peace was the best course of action, providing the voice's owner wasn't completely gone.
With her heart in her throat, Erika began to bang on the iron door hard, surprised at how much noise the thick thing could make. "I'M HERE!" She yelled, feeling the rustle of Erika's leaves around her feet. "Bellos?" She asked. Are you mad?

DAY 10 | [bg=d3d3d3][atrb=style,padding: 20px;] RAINA / DROP MARS The alarms still blared through the prison like the calling of war. Hell of a war it was, as it's been quite one-sided so far. The sounds of agony began to die away with the live lost, and at this rate, the prison would suffer a total genocide. Unnecessary? She supposed. Fun? Absolutely. Yet, at the rate of the lack of challenge that the guards posed to a lone woman and her Pokemon friends, Drop would come to be bored of this mission in due time, but as far as she was concerned, Erika was hers.
Silence. The hooded one was alone and shivering. Looking into her phone again, there was already news stories of the Kanto prison chaos, and yet, they have yet to identify the one behind it all. So far, so good, but she would have to cover her butt, sooner or later. At the time, she also wanted to call and check up on Elijah, back at Johto. By now, he's probably flipping a table or two, but she didn't care much. At least, she'll have to leave a message. "Hey, this is Drop," he began to say for the answering machine. "Picking up a plant at the dog pound now, don't call back or I'll stab you. Again. Love you~." Click.
Just then, almost as if on cue, a voice shot through the cold and stinging air. "I'm here!!" Bingo. Drop began to race down the hall, to hunt down the source of the frail voice like a shark, attracted to blood within the open sea. As she reached her spot, she took a soft breath and banged on the bars of Erika's cell. "H-Hi. Gonna get you out now and stu-" WHAM! Drop was tackled to the eroded and metallic wall by a bundle of police. She slashed at them, one by one dropping, but more came to ambush her.
At that very moment, however, a Drill Run came crashing through, blowing away the guards in one fell swoop. On the ground and covered in bruises, Drop slowly got up and embraced Wolverine for support. "T-Thanks, Wolvie. I owe you a big poffin when we get home, bud." she said, in an almost intoxicated tone. Shaking her head, she finally came to her sense and quickly came over to the front of Erika's cell (apparently not even noticing the taser wires still tacked on the left side of her bottom) and looked into it, weakly waving as she did. "Hey, Erika. Aren't you quite the celeb?" | [bg=0e0e0e][atrb=style,padding: 10px; font-family: courier new; color: #d3d3d3; text-align: center; letter-spacing: 5px;]TEMPLATE CODED BY RAIN FROM OTE |

Erika listened to the cries grow quieter around her - the dying were now dead, their voices silenced. Nothing would stop the adrenaline rush to her head, but the possibility of silence did calm her somewhat. She paused her banging for a moment to swoop down and kiss Daisy. "I don't want you getting hurt," she explained, returning the worried Pokemon to her Pokeball. Then, with manic frenzy, she banged at the door continuously.
Either she was crazy and running for death, or she was about to find her way out. Erika prayed it was the second. Soon, the voice came very close - they had to be outside her cell. She stopped as the voice cut off. Soon, the cries were starting again. All this for me? ... Why? The mere thought of so much blood and gore was making her dizzy - she couldn't imagine actually seeing it, much less being a cause or part of it. She bit and licked at her bleeding lip, trying to push such thoughts out of her brain. It was not the proper time to be guilty - if she lived, she'd have years and years to feel it in her gut.
Eventually, it seemed all the attackers were killed, and her rescuer looked into her room, emergency lights finally streaming in from the hall. She blinked. The girl was almost meek-sounding thing, shorter than Erika and looked rather harmless and innocent... other than the blood all over her and her Pokemon. The contrast startled her and the blood made her mildly nauseous, but she had to talk.
"A-apparently," she said, wondering whether she should inch forwards or backwards. "Considering you're here." Honestly, she couldn't figure out why they had even bothered with her - Team Ultimatum obviously had much more honor to those in it's service than she had expected. "Presumably to help me escape." Or kill me.
