it is hard to gain clair's trust, unless you beat her in battle. clair doesn't open up to many people, and she doesn't show her soft side that often either. her true friends are her pokemon; no trainer has ever really been able to earn her trust and friendship. lance was probably one of the only people she accepted a loss from. if someone else defeats her, she grows bitter and doesn't want to accept it, but it's only after she's accepted the fact that she has lost to a powerful trainer that she will open her hear. it'd be fun to see her have some apprentices or something who worship and love dragon types as much as her. in fact, she'd quite love to be able to teach someone just as she was taught back in her younger days. training someone to be the best is what she can strive for.

clair makes natural enemies in those who hurt and harm pokemon. she cannot fathom how heartless some people can be to their partners. though she is arrogant herself, those who are arrogant and act indestructible while using their pokemon as slaves are absolutely out of her range of friendship. clair hates team rocket and snippy little kids. for a while after someone defeats her, she will dislike them, but that can change over time. temporary enemies like this are fine, but if your character mistreats their pokemon, clair will not like them.

someone would have to be quite determined to win the heart of clair. she is not unlovable, she just closes her heart off most of the time. i'm not sure what kind of person it'd take to open her up, so i'm up for any sort of experimentation here.
