His parents made the best of their efforts to care for him as well as letting him have a normal childhood, juggling Wally's learning of the world and the occasional doctoral care. He began to gain an interest in Pokemon along the way, which eventually came to fuel his dreams of being a trainer. Yet, his own drawback held him back constantly, and his parent we're worried of any potential accidents, or anything more severe, that may come to pass. Before Wally came to move in with his aunt and uncle in Verdanturf Town, he came to try and ask the Petalburg Gym Leader to help him catch his first Pokemon. He couldn't yet he sent his child, Ruby, to help for him. This was how Wally managed to capture and meet his Ralts. Afterwards, he went into Verdanturf and began to train like he had always wanted. As he did, he made his way to try and challenge the gym leaders of Hoenn, much to his own uncle dismay. He would come to fight Ruby several times, but had lost nearly everytime. It all came to a point where he ran away from his home, to meet his apparent rival as he came to the Victory Road of Ever Grande City. His every battle made him seem stubborn and determined, yet inside, the heat of battle only made Wally more and more wanting to become stronger.
