However, since this is a unique Pokémon roleplay, there may be more rules than you would normally come across. Okay, yeah, it does look like a novel. Oops. We apologize in advance, but assure you it will all be worth it in the end. If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to ask the admin or other members! i. general • Respect is essential. Come on, we aren't toddlers. We shouldn't have to tell you to treat others the way you would want to be treated. • In addition to respecting other members, you should also respect the admin and their decisions. • No spamming. That's a given. • No graphics or signatures should stretch the page, or be wider than 500px. • Please use avatars that are 100px by 100px. • Try to use graphics of quality. It just helps the whole site to look nice and worthwhile. If you have trouble finding or making graphics, ask someone to help you out. • Abiding by the Proboards terms and conditions, we are a PG-13 site. However, we’d like to be able to say we are a mature PG-13 site. If you are unable to handle certain content, you may make it clear but please don’t make a big deal out of it. • Being active is important. Please try to log into each of your accounts at least once a day, and post once a day. Whether or not you accomplish this can affect whether or not you get to keep your characters, and also the amount of characters you can have (explained below). ii. characters • We are a canon-based site. This means canons are highly encouraged (though we do allow originals, read on below), and we limit this strictly to game-world canons (that’s the PC trainers, gym leaders, elite members, villains, professors, and any others with important roles). • You must check the Canon List to make sure your desired canon is available, and make a reservation as you work on their application. • If you are inactive for a certain period of time without notice of an absence, anyone is allowed to reserve your canon for in case you don’t regain activity. Popular characters may be re-reserved after 3 days of inactivity, and fully reclaimed after 1 week. Less popular characters may be re-reserved after 1 week of inactivity, and fully reclaimed after 2 weeks. When a character is reclaimed your account is deleted and your threads will be moved to archives. • When playing a canon, please acknowledge relations with other canons. Some canons are family members of others, some may be close friends, enemies, etc. Check your canon’s Bulbapedia page, as well as profiles of existing canons. • Though we ask you to follow the canon’s background as closely as you can, feel free to add in juicy tidbits to their lives that could fit into their history and pieces that could explain things the creators left out. Have fun making them your own character, but try not to make them a different person. • If you post an application that is a WIP and fail to at least login within 3 days, the application will be moved to archives and your account will be deleted. • Rejected applications will also be moved to archives and your account will be deleted. • We will have activity checks. If you fail to post in them, your account will be deleted and all your threads moved to archives. • You are allowed to make a maximum of 2 canons and 2 originals. Your first character can be a canon or an original, and you are allowed to make whichever you didn't make first after you’ve been active for 3 days. You can make your third character after being active for 1 week, and your fourth 3 days after that. • Original characters must not be created as gym leaders, elite members, or professors. They may only be trainers, Team Ultimatum grunts, or anything that would fit into the member group of "other." • When you register, make sure to alter your display name to your character's first name in all capital letters. iii. roleplaying • There is no set minimum word count. Quantity is not always quality. This means you can do quick, 100 words per post roleplays if you’d like. • However, before beginning a roleplay with someone, make sure you've established the amount that each of you usually post or wish to post. We all know it's not fun if one person is posting an average of 1000 words and you're posting an average of 500 words, or vice versa. Decide on an amount to suit you both. • Correct grammar, spelling, and proper use of the English language is required. Consistent errors in your character application will earn you rejection. Also be aware that if you prove to us you are not an efficient roleplayer, you may be asked to leave. • The Plotting forum is there to make things easier for you. Don't just jump into a roleplay; discuss background relationships between characters first, and possibly what you want for them in the future. • When roleplaying a Pokémon battle, be careful not to godmod or powerplay. Describe your Pokémon using a move, then allow your partner to describe the effects of the move on their Pokémon. iv. pokémon • Characters are allowed to have a maximum of 6 Pokémon in their party, and you may start off with a maximum of 4 Pokémon stored in the PC. • Legendary Pokémon are not allowed, and pseudo-legendaries are discouraged unless the pseudo-legendary is a signature Pokémon for a canon character (ie. Lance’s Dragonite). • Your character is allowed to have only one shiny Pokémon, though it is discouraged. Try to be realistic. • Each Pokémon may know up to 4 moves, and you may choose these moves. However, look up the Pokémon on Bulbapedia and choose from the list of moves that can be learned. • Levels and stats are nonexistent in this roleplay. Consider each Pokémon equally as strong as the next, unless you've got a Rattata against a Tyranitar or something. Basically just use common sense, and keep type strengths and weaknesses in mind as well. • You may choose to evolve Pokémon whenever you feel it is appropriate. • We do not have mods for capturing wild Pokémon. The plot of this forum is not centered on capturing Pokémon and being the best trainer. Instead, when your character wants a new Pokemon, this means you may post in the PokéMart thread your desire of a new Pokémon slot which costs 100 Pokédollars. Once the money is extracted from your account you may add the new Pokémon to your character’s profile. • Pokémon trading transactions between characters may be roleplayed out, or simply acknowledged by both characters. thanks for reading the rules and abiding by them! |
