His grandfather, Professor Oak, the "pokemon researcher" was famed for his work all around the region. So from a young age, Blue was exposed to pokemon of all different sorts, and he loved them. He learned a lot, always being underfoot in his grandfathers laboratory where his sister Daisy also worked as an assistant. He received his very first pokemon from his grandfather; a Scyther when he was only a child. The two were inseperable and trained often together. Blue, even as a child, knew the merit and need to train intensely to get stronger; so, he headed to Cianwood City with his Scyther where he was trained under the tutelage of Chuck the Gym Leader. There, not only did Scyther recieve training, but Blue did as well; he was taught martial arts to improve his physical and mental strength. It was tough and grueling, but Blue really learnt the merit of hard work. When he turned ten years old, he returned home with his pokemon to received his 'starter' pokemon in the form of a Charmander. Together, the two set off on a pokemon journey, exploring Kanto and the surrounding regions. He caught many pokemon, met many people, formed strong bonds - friendship, rivalries - and learned many new things. When the Viridan City Gym Leader disappeared, he temporarily took up the position to fight challengers who came by. He developed a strong sense of respect for the man who used to run the gym, even though he knew what a bad person he was.
