Giovanni is also the leader of the Viridian City Gym, and despite his utter lack of activity within it, has shown signs of wanting to re-estate himself as it's leader once again. However, it is known that he was raised all around Kanto, but was born in Viridian City. It is unknown how he came to become affiliated with Team Rocket, and rumors vary to him beginning as a mere grunt to him being the founder. However, regardless of his origins, he is without a doubt responsible for Team Rocket's prevalence and growth, his thirty-year leadership of the organization never once being called into question, keeping them as unseen criminal masterminds for 20-25 years until their operation to obtain and absorb Sliph-Co, where upon he was defeated by the soon-to-be Pokemon Champion, Red. After those fateful events, Giovanni left the organization and faked his own death. Thus, failure after failure plagued the organization until it eventually collapsed upon itself...until recently. Giovanni returned three years ago, rebuilding Team Rocket in secret, until it once again re-surfaced as the worlds top criminal business enterprise. However, he has remained quite after his resurgence, and stayed away from the limelight so much so that many outside the organization still believe him to be missing or dead. Several months ago, he assisted in the creation of 'Team Ultimatium' with several other illegal organization for a seemingly unknown purpose...only time will exactly /why/ he did as much. Giovanni is rumored to have been sighted traveling to Kanto aboard the S.S. Anne, where police attempted to arrest him upon arrival, only to find no sign of him what-so-ever once the ship docked. Since his rumored return, Silph-Co has collapsed, bought out by 'C.A.P.one Industries' which is (unknown to the world) one of many front companies for Team Rocket. Several witnesses have been rumored to have seen him traveling about Unova, and recently a suited man asked for Cynthia of the Elite Four before departing.
