[atrb=valign, top][atrb=style, width:185; padding-right:2px;] PERSONAL INFORMATION NAME: Jason Tham AGE: Thirty six GENDER: male HOMETOWN: Survival Zone, Sinnoh GROUP: Other OCCUPATION: Ex trainer - now a Ranger/InterPol liaison. While he technically works for the Pokemon Association as a Ranger, InterPol has often "borrowed" him due to his past experience as a trainer, and also for the extra firepower he can bring to an operation. PERSONALITY: • Very Professional • Enigma • Easy going while off the job • Ruthless while on the job • Coldly efficient • Loyal • Logical • Vindictive (holds grudges if blacklisted) LIKES: • His family • His home region DISLIKES: • Poke gangs • Threats to his family, home or pokemon • Bitterly cold weather HISTORY: Born in the Survival Zone in Sinnoh's Battle Zone and the son of the couple who ran the local Pokemart, Jason set himself apart from the majority of the human race early in life. Growing up in a town that was comprised mostly of trainers who only stayed for a few days at a time, Jason spent most of his free time scouting out the surrounding wilderness on his own, something which few sane people risked without pokemon of their own. While devoid of any actual training, Jace quickly learned how to control his body's motion and momentum as a necessity for scaling the cliffs on the town's outskirts, and by the age of nine he had devised his own invention made to make such travel even easier by incorporating a length of steel cable into a miniwinch that he would attack to his belt, with a customized caribiner at the leading end of the cable. After a year of practice he had mastered the use of the device, and had even managed to climb halfway up Stark Mountain before being forced to flee in the face of a wild Rhydon. It wasn't until he was eleven that he was set on the path of a trainer, however. Highly impressed by both his skill and audacity, a Hiker passing through the area decided to give Jace the option of becoming a trainer, realizing that he had little chance of capturing any of the monstrously strong wild pokemon in the area alone. Accepting the offer, Jace received a Turtwig egg from the Hiker, and hatched and raised the pokemon without his parents' knowledge until it evolved into a Grotle several months later, the pokemon's growth further accelerated by his and Jace's periodic treks towards Stark Mountain in an attempt to pull off a second ascension up the harsh cliffs. While at first reluctant, Jace's mother and father realized that they neither had the right nor the ability to keep Jace from leaving, and were able to do little more than wish him luck. Departing from the Survival Zone, Jace proceeded to head east for a third and final attempt to scale Stark Mountain, finally making it to the top through a combination of luck, skill, previous experience and the added ability to fend off wild pokemon attacks thanks to Grotle. Decending from the top of the mountain after a day of rest, Jace proceeded south through the island's small desert, dodgin trainers and fending off wild pokemon attacks for several days until they arrived at the Resort Area. Spending another day resting at the pokemon Center, Jace began to head west again only to find that the route was comprised almost entirely of water, and that he was unable to cross with the pokemon he had. Turning back to head back north and annoyed with the detour, Jace encountered a Scyther. Pleased with the difficulty of the fight, Jace resolved to catch the bug type, and after nearly ending the battle in a tie he succeeded in capturing it. Now with two pokemon in his team and having toughened Grotle up quite a bit over the past few months since he first evolved, Jace instead shifted his focus onto training Scyther, this time battling several of the trainers he had previously avoided during his first trip through the desert. Briefly returning to the Survival Zone to rest his pokemon and stock up on items, Jace continued west, this time not avoiding any of the trainers he came across and quickly earning a local reputation for both his age and ruthless battle style. By the time he reached the Battle Frontier, almost eight months after his initial departure from his home, Jace had gotten fully used to the trainer lifestyle, and remained in the Frontier for several weeks to train his pokemon, evolving Grotle and winning a Metal Coat as a prize during one of his forays into the Battle Tower. After nearly two months Jace began moving again, boarding a ship for Snowpoint City and now twelve years old. Initially impressed with the toughness of the local Gym, his admiration soon gave way to irritation and frustration as he lost three challenges in a row, defeating every Gym Trainer only to lose to the Leader each time due to type disadvantage and unfamiliarity with the icy battlefield. It was during his third trip to the pokemon center that he had a chance encounter with the very Hiker that had given him the egg that his Torterra had hatched from, and after briefly catching up and a quick battle, the Hiker suggested evolving Scyther with the Metal Coat Jace had obtained in the Battle Frontier. Briefly thinking it over, Jace presented the idea to the pokemon in question, who agreed without hesitation. Trading Scyther to the Hiker and back, Scyther evolved into Scizor, with the Hiker's Graveller also evolving in the process. Travelling from the Center to the Gym once more, Jace easily swept aside the Gym Trainers with almost no effort at all thanks to Scizor's new type advantage, and after a heated battle with the Gym Leader that resulted in Torterra fainting with Scizor nearly following behind, Jace finally conquered the Gym. Pleased with the victory after the amount of effort that had gone into obtaining it, Jace spent the next week attempting to travel along the southern land route, only to be repeatedly pressed back by the howling wind and biting cold of the blizzards typical to the area. Resigning himself to finding an alternate means of transportation, Jace boarded a ship for Canalave City, challenging the local Gym on arrival and obtaining an easy win through a combination of Torterra's Leech Seed and Earthquake. Pressing on east, Jace was initially annoyed to find the path once again blocked by water, and after judging the distance to be less than half a mile he simply swam the distance, managing to catch a cold that cost him three weeks in Jubilife City. Again annoyed with the loss of time, Jace pressed on with a vengeance, burning through Oreburgh's Gym with no effort at all before turning back to head through Jubilife City and Eterna Forest, obtaining his glove wearing habit when he repeatedly managed to stun or otherwise poison himself through touching plants that he should have avoided. Arriving in Eterna City worn and weary from his trek through the maze of the forest, Jace blew through the Eterna Gym with relatively little effort thanks once again to Scizor's type advantage, something that was beginning to amount to overkill thanks to the amount of training and experience his pokemon had already received. Continuing east through Mt. Coronet and Celestic Town before swinging south, Jace overshot the point where he was supposed to turn east again, arriving in Solaceon City rather than Veilstone. The detour wasn't wasted, however, with Jace obtained yet another egg from a local breeder. Not sure what it would hatch into since the breeder refused to tell hima dn somewhat apprehensive of it as a result, Jace kept it nonetheless, deciding to continue along the path he was on anyways to arrive in Hearthome City another two weeks later. Again conquering the local Gym, albeit by a narrower margin than the last few, Jace obtained his fifth badge on his fourteenth birthday before moving south to head to Pastoria City, his egg hatching into a Riolu upon arrival. After fighting against a few wild pokemon to gauge it's strength and surprised by the fact that it knew Blaze Kick, Jace nevertheless benched it for his battle against Wake, the fight itself nearly ending in a tie due to the Gym Leader's Ice type moves but without the corresponding weaknesses, wiping out Torterra with and Ice Fang from his Gyarados after the Grass type KOd two of his other Water types, with Scizor barely managing to pull a win from the scenario. Aware that the tri annual competition held by the Pokemon Association was to be held in a mere few months, Jace increased the pace of both his movement and training, putting Riolu through a reasonable yet rigorous pace during the trip to Veilstone City. Deciding to finally let Riolu fight alongside the rest of his team, the small Fighting type quickly proved itself to be a valuable ally, managing to easily defeat three of his opponents in the Veilstone Gym through superior speed, reflexes and mobility, using his smaller size to great advantage. Victory secured and with only three months left until the regional tournament began, Jace immediately left Veilstone and headed south towards Sunyshore, keeping the pace of his team's training and movement as fast as he reasonable could without breaking them or himself in the process. Immediately resting both himself and his team at the city pokemon center, Jace gave them three days to regain their strength, not wanting to risk facing the strongest Gym in the region with his team at anything less than peak condition. As soon as he challenged the Gym, however, Jace found that he had his work cut out for him, with Torterra's Ground type advantage and his sole strategy thrown right out the window by the Magnet Rise employed by the Leader's Magnezone, with Torterra being KOd in the first round. Knowing that Scizor lacked the proper techniques to effectively combat the Magnezone's typing while still being vulnerable to its powerful Electric attacks, Jace bet everything on Riolu, a gamble that immediately paid off when the Fighting type managed to dodge the initial Zap Cannon and paralyze the Electric type with Force Palm, leaving the Steel/Electric pokemon wide open for a dizzying combination of Fire and Fighting techniques that managed to put it down within seconds before it was capable of striking back, with the tide of the fight shifting even further in Jace's favor when Riolu evolved from KOing the Magnezone. Much stronger and faster than it was as a Riolu, Lucario was able to easily secure victory, sweeping through the Leader's remaining Manentric, Magneton and Luxray with relatively little difficulty. Leaving the Gym and extremely satisfied with the win, Jace spent one last day giving his pokemon a well deserved rest in the pokemon center before leaving the city. Now with all eight of the region's badges in his possession and unconditionally qualified to enter in the regional tournament, Jace deciding to bypass the water route to Victory Road by travelling north to Veilstone and crossing the narrow strait there. While incapable of flying for extended periods of time, Scizor was perfectly capable of ferrying Jace across the water for less than five minutes, and after making a quick visit to the pokemon center outside the cave entrance, Jace proceeded to travel through Victory Road, easily crushing the competition with Scizor and Lucario alone, with Lucario learning its signiture Aura Sphere technique in the process. Reaching the end of the cave route at the end of the two month period, Jace arrived at the regional pokemon league just in time for the regional tournament. Ecstatic that he'd made it time, Jace rose through the rankings with relative ease, making it to the regional quarter semifinals where he would battle Elinda Aspen, a trainer from Hoenn who had already participated in Hoenn's regional tournament three years earlier at the age of only fourteen. The match was brutal, with Elinda's Flygon and Jace's Torterra nearly ripping the stadium's foundation apart with their powerful Ground techniques until Elinda's Flygon KOd Jace's Torterra with a critical hit from a well timed Dragon Claw, only to be KOd in turn from a strike from Jace's Scizor, who managed to take down the Kadabra that Elinda sent out in Flygon's place with and X-Scissor attack. Following up with Lapras, Scizor was then knocked out by a combination Hydro Pump and an earlier Future Sight attack Kadabra had put in motion. Calling out his last pokemon, Lapras was taken down by Lucario, forcing Elinda to release her starter Sceptile, which also happened to be her strongest pokemon. While Lucario held the type advantage, Sceptile hopelessly outstripped it in terms of speed, tactics and overall experience, avoiding Lucario's opening Aura Sphere with Detect and closing in to rain blow upon blow, alternating between Leaf Blade and Thunder Punch while avoiding all of Lucario's slower attacks and not giving it the chance to fire off another Aura Sphere, eventually KOing the Steel type with a critical hit from Leaf Blade. Victorious, Elinda continued on to win the semi finals, making it on to the tournament finals before losing to the regional Champion of the time. Jace, now sixteen, unsure of what to do next and both respectful and admiring of her skill and dedication, stayed at the league to watch all of her matches. Approaching her after her loss with the intention of congratulating her and offering the possibility of a rematch, was taken aback by her openess, instead expecting someone reserved and dignified. What he got instead, however, was an unreserved compliment and critique of his own skills as well as an invitation to join her when she moved on to the Unova region, saying that it'd be much easier to have a rematch later if they travelled together rather than splitting up and going their separate ways. Not sure of how else to respond, Jace accepted her offer, with the two departing to Unova the following week. Again moving throughout the regional Gyms, with Jace reaching the age of seventeen and Elinda eighteen, the pair then travelled to Johto, again burning through the region's Gyms withing the year before moving onto the neighboring region of Kanto to repeat the process, once again participating in the tri annual tournament held for each region at the ages of nineteen and twenty, ranking the same as they had during their first tournament in Sinnoh. By now romantically involved, Jace and Elinda decided to retire from their regional conquests, with Jace having conquered the Gyms of every region he knew of short of Hoenn, and Elinda one upping him on that count. Travelling back to Hoenn to take a break and simply tour the region so as to both enjoy the climate and to meet Elinda's family, the pair were wed within the next year and a half at the ages of twenty and twenty one, having applied to the Pokemon Association for Ranger certifications and with their son, Felsic Aspen, being born a year later, with the family "settling down" in Oldale Town after his birth and the approval of their applications. While Elinda took the first half a year off for maternity leave, Jace quickly made a name for himself as a Ranger, thanks to both the team he retained from his trainer days being much larger than that of most other rangers and thanks to his nearly unparalleled movement skills he'd learned as a child, which were further augmented by a redesigned, smaller version of the miniwinch and line he'd made as a child and two multi purposed, dual pronged knives that could be used for combat, climbing and survival purposes. His reputation would continue to steadily improve over the following years as Elinda joined him as a fellow Ranger. It was thanks to their profession that they became aware of the growing conflict in the region as Teams Aqua and Magma began to make their presences known, and after careful deliberation the decided to move Fel out of ther region at the age of six, entrusting him with an egg that resulted from the union of their Torterra and Sceptile, with Fel arriving in Viridian City to stay with one of Jason's relatives a mere two days before the Hoenn gangs made their endgame known. Now twenty-seven and twenty-eight, Jace and Elinda proved instrumental in several Ranger operations, including the evacuation of Lilycove, the evacuation of Fortree and the accompyaning firefighting efforts, and several other similar incidents until the situation was finally resolved by the showdown in Sootopolis City. As the dust began to settle nearly two months later and the region began to slowly recover from Groudon and Kyogre's awakenings, Jace and Elinda set aside a brief amount of time to check in on Fel in Viridian, pleased to discover that he was happy, healthy and with a new companion after the egg he had been given had hatched. Deciding that it would be better to have him remain in Kanto for a few more months until the region completely recovered, Jace and Elinda made it a point to call in to Jace's relative to check in on Fel exery few weeks, becoming more and more conflicted about taking him back as it became clear that he was living a happy life in Kanto, and that they would only become busier as their usefulness to the Pokemon Association increased. Eventually they decided to simply let Fel remain in Viridian, and to focus on helping those that they were able to, with Jace eventually being assigned to Sinnoh at the age of twenty-nine due to his familiarity with the region, with Elinda remaining in Hoenn. | [atrb=width,225px,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style, width:185; padding-left: 2px;] POKEMON PARTY SPECIES: Torterra NICKNAME: None GENDER: male NATURE: Hardy MOVES: Leech Seed, Giga Drain, Synthesis, Earthquake SPECIES: Scizor NICKNAME: None GENDER: male NATURE: Adamant MOVES: Quick Attack, Night Slash, X-Scissor, Iron Head SPECIES: Lucario NICKNAME: None GENDER: male/female/unknown NATURE: Modest MOVES: Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Me First SPECIES: Gallade NICKNAME: None GENDER: male NATURE: Hasty MOVES: Leaf Blade, Night Slash, Psycho Cut, Brick Break SPECIES: Absol NICKNAME: None GENDER: female NATURE: Gentle MOVES: Detect, Future Sight, Swords Dance, Slash PC STORAGE [tiny sprite images here] |
