With their separate goals, they each set out to achieve them in a time-period of 80 days. She succeeded her goal, as did Ruby, and they now travel together, becoming stronger. She wishes to collect every badge, and also strives to defeat Team Ultimatum. She would seemingly grow up to be a Coordinator, and even a Professor, but that all changed the day she met Ruby. One day, their playdate was interrupted by a wild Salamence, and Ruby was quick to defeat it. Nearby, the Salamence had released a Rayquaza. Sapphire ran off, crying, realizing she ruined Ruby's dignity. She vowed to become stronger after that day. She made a pact with Ruby, an 80-day pact, that both of them would acheive a certain goal in just 80 days, and hers was collecting all the badges of the Hoenn Region. She was able to receive all of them, but not without another adventure on the way! The duo of Sapphire and Ruby eventually made their way to the seafloor cavern after getting involved with Rayquaza, and soon managed to blast the Orbs out of Archie and Maxie, using the meteorite that deactivated Mt. Chimney earlier. The two were blown to Mirage Island, where they learned from Juan that they had absorbed the Red and Blue Orbs. They trained to be able to control the orbs, and Sapphire thus earned two more badges in the process. Soon, before leaving Mirage Island, Sapphire revealed her feelings for Ruby, but they reached the city before he was able to tell her he felt the same way. Sapphire was pushed by Ruby to protect her, and later escaped the aircar and joined the battle. Minun and Plusle managed to defeat Archie and Maxie, and then Ruby used Celebi to restore peace.
