So I meant to keep working on Morty's plot thread, but then somehow I ended up making this poll. I'm just curious. :3 Feel free to post and explain your answer.
I chose HeartGold/SoulSilver because the original Gold/Silver/Crystal came out when I was able to read well enough and actually understand what I was doing (mostly... lol). Anyway, playing HeartGold/SoulSilver made me feel so happy like I was a little kid again and brought back so many memories. I played the poop out of my HeartGold version and loved to just mess around on SoulSilver. Seriously, last summer I think my HeartGold player had more of a life than I did. I was well over halfway done completing my Pokedex too... but now that Black/White have been released I've kind of been forced to move on from that. Black/White are freaking amazing too though.
p.s. I'll grant 5 extra pokedollars to each person who votes...
p.p.s. I think I'll make a thread for sharing friend codes soon~

I chose Black/White not because of the Pokemon, but because it's, in my opinion, the first Pokemon game (Well, color/gemstone based game) that's had a well thought out plot. The first games were just kind of like Rraaa we're a random organization that's going to rule over Pokemon. And then they kept creating more teams and more teams until galactic came along and you just kind of wanted to kick yourself in the face. I bought Pokemon b/w thinking "Oh lord, what did they come up with now..." Only to almost cry because some parts of the plot are so deep/dark that they make you question humanity and the number 42.
"Professor Juniper, what are you thinking? You appear to have no qualms about the relationship between Pokémon and people. You put Pokémon into categories using arbitrary rules and think you can understand them like that... The very idea of a Pokédex revolts me. What do you have to say for yourself?" - N
Kay seriously, when have you ever heard a character from Pokemon talk like that? It blew my mind. :F

I chose black and white for... Similar reasons. First of all, because it was revisiting my childhood. If you think about it, the more and more pokemon games that were released, more and more stuff got added. Freaking contests, confusing little side plots, dumb things. When Black and White was announced it was one of those 'dear lord it's going to be a cluttermess and everythings going to be terrible'. And I got it. And it was like playing an old game with, like N said, better plot. You got everything Red/Green offered but with plot. And the well thought out characters! Even the player's character seemed to have a personality. We see a small but perfect mix up to the rival system, which is what was needed, but a return to the gym simplicity system but with difficulty.
Black and White is perfect to me. Not to mention the pokemon are badass. And the dream world really gives you the chance to 'catch them all' if you're dedicated enough.

So... Chose Heartgold/Soulsilver
Soulsilver is the only NDS cartridge that I've actually bought. shameless downloading of everything else And I mean, I really had to save my money for it since my parents are quite against buying me games in general. But I don't regret it. First off, the pokewalker. It's effing cute. Could not resist at all. @ u @ Crystal version was my favorite of them all. Why? I liked it when they incorporated night and day to the game, made me feel as though, realistically, yeah, pokemon would have to sleep and then other pokemon would show up to fill their places. Next, you get to go to Kanto. So for me, its like, two games in one. o w o
I haven't finished black/white yet, so my opinion might be biased, but for now...
HG/SS ROCKS!

Well, I love the plot of Black and White a whole lot, which is why I chose it. It's soooo different, no Zubats and Geodudes to pester you anymore (YES!), actually complex characters that make you question previous pokemon games, and really awesome pokemon (Oshawott line+Snivy line+Axew line+Zorua line=My total favorites {behind Swampert, Eevee and Staraptor of course}!!!!). I've restarted the game multiple times and each time I've had a whole lot of fun each and every time. Plus the moving sprites entertain me.

... I feel like I've just been douched out.
I chose Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, mostly because Ruby was my first game, like, ever, and I thought that a lot of the Pokemon in that game were fun and such. Plus in Emerald,a lot of the Pokemon in the game were entertaining to me in a sense, such as Rayquaza, who was at level 70 and quite a challenge for once. Plus, I liked a lot of the Pokemon in sed region, such as Combusken - considering it was the first Fighting/Fire type EVA - and Mudkip+ EVOLUTIONS - twas my starter when I first got Ruby - and that a lot of the Pokemon were used in the recent PMD games, such as Grovyle and Corphish, etc.

Red/Blue. These were the first games I ever played, and even to this day the Pallet Town theme music brings tears to my eyes. That, and the fact that I just prefer the original 150 pokemon to the other generations by sheer sense of style.

I chose Red/Blue/Yellow, because simliarly, they were my entire childhood. If it weren't for these games I would never have gotten into Pokemon; I still have them today in working order, along with my old Game Boy Color. While yes, I liked Black & White's plot, for me the first 151 pokemon can never be beat. I know them back and forwards, I still remember how to get through Viridian Forest and all of the dungeons.. It's implanted in my brain forever.

I am all for HeartGold and SoulSilver. Sure, you can't beat the original 150, but I think that Gold/Silver/Crystal were probably the best sequels to the original pokemon. After that, I feel like the pokemon (creativity-wise) kinda went downhill. But the original games were good and seeing the remakes were absolutely awesome in my opinion. I really wished they would've or are making Crystal all over again. I haven't got a clue what they would name it. But it would be cool.

I chose HG/SS. I would have chosen G/S/C because Crystal was my favorite out of all Pokemon games, but HG/SS was just... so well remade. I loved it. And I loved that my favorite Pokemon could follow me around! It's the longest of the games that I've played, I love that you go between two regions. There's just... so much to do. Nothing beats Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon. Nothing!

Oh my god, this is such a hard choice. In order for me to properly think about which game was really the "best", I think I’m gonna have to split it up into different categories. 1- Story[/u] - Okay, I'm gonna follow the pack on this one because, well, Black and White easily had the best story. All the gym leaders/Alder actually GOT INVOLVED with the problems facing their region, and Team Plasma's goal was actually sympathetic (Also, DENNIS' Ghetsis' REAL plan actually made sense too). All the characters were well developed, and the rivals weren't obnoxious (Gary Motherf***ing Oak, anyone?), but interesting and I liked how they grew just as much as the player character. 2- Music[/u] - This one’s a tie between Black and White and the original R/G/B/Y games. The themes from Red/Blue are timeless, and I believe they are one of the biggest reasons why the series picked up so much ground. The Gym Leader Theme, for example, perfectly highlighted the tension and excitement of the battle you were about to endure. Similarly, The Champion Theme , as well, really had the amazing “This is it. The final battle” feel as well. Black and White had so many amazing themes, too. The Decisive Battle theme perfectly highlights the upbeat climax of a gym leader battle, and The Elite Four theme was another really good one as well, since it not only kept with the theme of the E4 this time around, but it perfectly showed how tough of a battle you were about to have. The Kanto Champion theme (Where is it used anyway?) was probably one of my favorite themes from the game, and a great blast from the past. The BEST music in Black and White, however, was the “in a pinch” theme. They turned something that was HORRIBLY ANNOYING AND DIE IN A FIRE into something AMAZING. 3- Designs[/u]- I’m gonna surprise everyone by saying that Gen 1 had far from the greatest designs. I feel like Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald had the greatest Pokemon designs. I felt like a lot of the Pokemon felt new and badass, and a lot of the designs from that generation were new and unique. It also had, in my opinion, the most beautiful region. Even if there was SO MUCH WATER! 4- Mechanics[/u]- I’m going mostly by what changes were done here, so I can’t fault Gen 1 too much (Even if it had the useless Ghosts and the insanely overpowered Psychic), but I’d say G/S/C, R/S/E, and D/P/PL all had major, necessary changes to the game. G/S/C started it off by balancing the types and adding items, which I thought was a HUGE change to the game that NEEDED to happen. Then R/S/E took some long strides in fixing the IV/EV systems and adding awesome abilities. D/P/PL then finished the necessary fixes to the game with the Physical/Special split (Which I feel was FAR TOO LONG overdue). I really don’t think Black and White did too much mechanic wise, but to it’s credit, there wasn’t much left to do. 5- Nostalgia[/u]- Red/Blue/Yellow. Duh. 6- Overall[/u]- Even after all this, it’s hard to pick a favorite game, but I’d have to say Black and White. When I was playing White, I felt like I was playing Red like I was a kid again. It felt like a fresh start for the series, but better, since nearly all of the problems that had been in the first were gone. The game was well-paced and exciting, and nearly all the characters were likable. The designs might not have been the best of the series, but I can still pick out a ton of awesome ones, and I honestly don’t think they were the worst either.

I picked R/S/E. While technically Silver was my first Pokemon game, Sapphire was the first one I got REALLY into. I played the crap out of that game. I knew where all the good secret base places were and had (almost) all the furniture. I trained and caught all sorts of Pokemon, trying to complete the dex. I spent hours running back and forth trying to collect ash. I spent so much time in the game that some places in the game seem almost real to me. (Which shows how nerdy I am, orz)
So... While I love all of them, that will always have a spot in my heart. (That said, I technically haven't completed SS or W yet... School got in the way, then I wasn't going to start W until I finished SS, but then it was so ~shiny~, and and /rant)

Original GOLD/SILVER/CRYSTAL, without a doubt. And believe me, I absolutely adore the DS remakes but those old ones hold a very special place in my heart. I was just really getting into gameboy when my sister and i got Gold and Silver, I was given Silver and she got Gold. I played that game sooooo many different times i can still quote a majority of the game. And i still have my original gameboy and game cartilage for when i wanna feel extra nostalgic. :D those games basically represent my entire childhood from age 7ish to when i was 13 or so. And pokegear had DAYLIGHT SAVINGS, how freaking cool was that?!?!? I was so emotionally involved in that game it isn't even funny. My parents were concerned i had a serious problem. xD But regardless of my love for G/S/C i still adore all the other pokemon games that followed them, i've played each to the end. They all have a fond resemblance to the originals I love so dearly i find them all irresistible classic example of why i love pokemon: gotta love it
