HISTORY:
Naoko lived with her grandmother due to a few unfortunate circumstances involving Naomi, her mother. The young girl was never told the reason of her mother’s absence and therefore never particularly grieved over her situation. However, as Naoko grew up it started to become more and more evident that her grandmother wasn’t always in the right state of mind. The youthful dancer’s caretaker had been the one to introduce her to the art of dancing and it wasn’t long before it took over her life. Naoko would train day and night with her grandmother. The young madam would receive a compliment from her nana every once in a blue moon. Rather than supporting her with kind words and morals like an honest teacher should Naoko’s caretaker would instead insult her dancing and threaten to take away her meals, money and precious objects if she didn’t perfect her routines.
As life went on Naoko’s situation only grew worse. Her grandmother barely let her eat and treated her as if she were some sort of child’s toy. Every night Naoko would be forced to stand on a scale. If the girl had gained any weight she was whipped on the back with a belt by her caretaker and told she wasn’t allowed to eat for a solid week. Living off of water and vitamin supplements, the youthful matron turned into nothing but skin and bones. Yet still, Naoko somehow managed to continue dancing.
When the dark-haired teen decided that she had endured enough of her wicked grandmother’s torture she brought nothing with her but the clothes on her back and fled out of the door. As Naoko was running through the town she heard an irritated shout behind her. The young sleuth swiftly turned on her haunches to see her villainous grandmother sprinting after her. Anger brewed in the girl’s veins as she reminisced on how horribly the old hag had treated her. Mother wouldn’t have wished for this; she thought, and narrowed her eyes at her caretaker with a hollow expression. Something in her mind had clicked at that very instance. Naoko’s eyes focused on an un-sturdy pole near a construction site that faintly moved with the flow of the wind. The young girl tightly shut her eyes and screamed rather psychotically towards her grandmother. When her mind had pulled her back into reality, the pole she had seen from before had been slammed down on her grandmother’s aging skull by some unknown force, instantly ending her life.
Terrified and confused, the skinny girl fled from the scene and found herself in the forest that bordered the tiny town. Naoko lacked the proper navigation skills needed to exit the area, and she wound up getting lost. Exhausted and weak, Naoko collapsed on the ground and passed out due to exhaustion and possible dehydration.
When she woke up Naoko found herself in the futon of a stranger’s guest bed room. Unsure of where she was or what to do, Naoko threw the covers off of her and ran towards the door. Before she could step out Naoko felt a supportive hand lightly grasp her shoulder and turned to see a man with long, shaggy purple hair and odd-colored eyes. Naoko had been about to rear up and kick the stranger in his stomach when he took a small pace backwards and calmly described who he was. The man had claimed to be the young girl’s father.
He told Naoko that she and her mother had been unable to keep her to protect Naoko from the journalists and members of the media that they would often attract due to abilities they possessed called “Latent Psycho kinesis” and “Telekinesis”. Naoko obviously didn’t believe this man at first and figured he was just some desperate stranger, but after a while of convincing and proof that he wasn’t lying, Naoko gladly accepted it and told him about what her mother’s grandmother had done to her and how she had felt about their decisions. Naoko’s father had said that he didn’t want to give her to his ex-wife’s grandmother, but confessed to the dark-haired girl that her mother was actually on medication to keep her from reaching certain points of insanity that shouldn’t be shown to man. He also told her that he expected she inherited some kind of ability, but it wasn’t the focus of either of their concerns.
After living with her father for a while Naoko decided to pursue her dream of dancing. She sincerely thanked her dad and left the house, eventually making it to Ecruteak city where she joined the kimono girls in their dancing and folklore.
