Viridian Forest: a place where many buy-types live, and where many trainers go to train or catch Pokemon and the like. And where many bug-type trainers may literally swarm people, however at point point that may get a little creepy. It was also a place with many trees, of which were climbable by all means. Not that they were meant for humans; mostly Pokemon lived there, and the Pokemon that lived there mostly used them for safety or to catch prey from up above; that made their lives much easier, really. So in fact, the trees didn't hold much weight; that's what many of the attendants tell the people going into the forest, to be careful with the trees since they grew without much help form human contact; that, and not much light came through the tops of the trees. So basically, there was no climbing on the trees as a rule.
Well, try telling Lily that.
"Lily, I don't think that is too safe," warned the Slowking as he carefully watched his trainer try to inch her way to another branch; it looked fairly heavy and sturdy, however fairly breakable as well, seeing as how you could never trust plant growth.
"Oh, I'll be fine," the girl scoffed, blowing some hair out of her eyes before pulling her self up to the next branch; she was so close to the berries, she could almost taste them! Well, besides taking one off of the lower branches, but that one was nasty!
The Slowking merely gave a sigh as he watched his trainer go further into the tree; she was so hard headed, he could barely get her to do what she was supposed to do, not to mention was she wasn't supposed to do, or was he able to stop her. And if he tried, that would count as attacking her. The best he could usually do was sit back and watch; and watch her get hurt as well, which he truthfully hated seeing. Lily, however, thought otherwise; crawling onto another branch, she slowly inched her way forward, trying to get closer to the berries. It was almost comical enough that she, while inching along the branch, slipping over, and instead of falling off, merely ended up hanging upside down. That didn't stop her, however, as she simply started crawling onwards, making sure to keep on a harder grip. She was so close, she could imply reach to grab a berry; which is what she tried to do.
Making sure she had a good grip with her right arm, she reached out with her left and slowly began stretching for the nearest berry, which seemed so close, however just too far away. She had to bite her lip to try not asking for help; she could have possibly sent up Perap to get the berries, but she wanted to show Roi how good she was at climbing trees all by her self. Her fingers barely brushed the berry when... Suddenly the berry disappeared. Lil held back a gasp, and looked down to Roi through the branches and leaves to see if Roi noticed, before looking back to where the berry was, when, in it's place, stood a Weedle staring at her blankly. It was sad that she was so surprised that she let out a screech, letting go of the branch she had a hold of. Instantly her back hit the branch below her, however she merely rolled off onto the branch below, which didn't hold her for long.
As she heard Roi holler something, she managed to push away from the branch, however it merely brushed back to her. It looked pretty heavy, and as she neared the ground, it looked as if it were going to land on her, when in a blue and red flash of light, the branch did a sudden jerk away from here, hitting into another tree with a sudden crash!, blowing it to pieces as the sound echoed everywhere. Quickly Lily landed into a creature's arms; she knew that if she had landed on the ground, she would have blacked out, or at least lost her breath. As the rushing feeling went away, and she was able to get her vision back, she realized that she had been caught by Explosion, her Exploud. Lily gave a sigh of relief; that Arceus for Roi, at least he knew how to work things.
"Thank you for catching me, Explosion, you can put me down now," said the singer nicely, in which the Pokemon happily obliged.
"Lily, are you okay?" the Slowking asked as he walked over to her, hands behind his back and held tightly together. Quickly the girl brushed her clothes off and straightened them out before looking up at him with a large smile that seemed too goofy, even for her; Roi had to smile back at that one.
"Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be?" she retorted, giving him a stubborn as she crossed her arms in a joking manner; however, she still held that smile that she couldn't seem to let go.
"Just thought I'd ask,' he spoke back, and from behind his back he pulled out his right hand; in it was a normal Pokeball, in which Lily gladly took. Turning towards the Exploud she said kindly,
"Thanks for helping again, Explosion. You can return now."
"'Sploud," the Exploud simply said in a low voice, trying not to disturb anything with the much louder voice it could make, as the girl pressed the button on the Pokeball. Quickly there was a red flash, and the large Pokemon disappeared from where it had stood; however ruffles in the dirt due to it catching the girl were clearly noticeable.
"I wonder if anyone heard you breaking that tree branch?" Lily question as she skipped over to her bag and Pokeball belt nearby; quickly she picked the belt up first, latching it around her waist where it slacked slightly, and then her backpack, which she hung on her pack. Explosion's Pokeball quickly went back in it's right place. Roi, however, merely rolled his eyes;
Of course she would wonder that.

“I wasn’t born yesterday, I’m perfectly aware how to be happy.” _______________________________
Gentle hands emerged as they reached to the heavens. The sleeves of the cotton white garb had begun to fall revealing delicate fingers that had begun to brush themselves against the fuzzy texture of a freshly picked bundle of green fruit. As large blue orbs gazed at the hefty plump fruit, they had become lost behind fleshy lids and a mouth shown with bliss as the figure revealed a relaxed smile, opened its little mouth and pressed his lips planting a kiss upon it while breaking away at the skin with the gentle of ease. His hands had become moist from the very first bite and as he chewed, swallowed with a meek moan, and let the large blue jewels reveal themselves: his smile returned.
“This is excellent!” the gentle voice sounded while the eyes set upon that of a curious face, “Would you like to try it, Bulbasaur?”
“Saur!~”
The simple pleasure of nature was so pleasing as it was any day! The song of the small Bulbasaur rung through the air sounding off with his whipping vines that stretched from underneath the underdeveloped seed upon its back. As the violet haired, feminine looking boy had gazed upon the sight of the Pokemon, he was amused to see the tentacles draw back. He was such a shy thing; he was the one that helped him pick the fruit and yet he still had acted as if he was so undeserving! The fruit was not the only simplistic thing that was so satisfying, but also the mannerisms and nature of his Pokemon friend as Xenneth Hikari, or rather, Orchid had enjoyed the day out in Viridian Forest of Kanto.
The days had been long since he had been back to his home region; count was lost so long ago and God forbid that he remembered! All he could think of was how to face his family in Celadon if he ever returned, and even as he took a ship ride by boat, he had only decided to delay the visit and, eventually, let it boil down to a decision to skip it all entirely. It was his formal life that filled him with such dread and fear which unlike most moments, like now, that he found so easier to indulge in because he lived in the moment: this very second that came to a simple session of Berry and Herb picking in Viridian Forest as a business visit apart from tending to the Orchid Inn.
The place would be alright after all; the roaming Pokemon that loved the Inn as much as he did was in-charge until he returned to Sinnoh, were they not?
As Orchid watched the Bulbasaur sample the berry, a rush of memories had come to mind; the not so kind ones. With a fresh intake of deja’vu, he had turned a shoulder while keeping a faux expression of contentment and simply swept his hand at his hip level urging the Pokemon to follow. “Come,” gently spoken, “There are most likely more berries within to be picked.” As he spoke, the very same hand that wafted the air had swept a basket into his grasp. In the bend of a knee and a flowing motion, he had continued along his path with a very happy berry picking partner that followed on all fours while eating away at the berry that was picked. The herbs that hung limply over the rim of the woven wood had danced with each step with ripened fruit that kept them in place.
There was the sound of rustling grass that was high as a knee and tree branches that had swayed in the distance without the push of a breeze. It was surely the sound of the Pokemon World coming to life around the young boy. It was strange to him however: in the past he would not notice it. Orchid had only begun to think that perhaps his change in lifestyle and occupation was perhaps some form of enlightenment on such days. It was a change of pace from the usual rushes, missions, and scampering of the feet. Such tall grass would be laid down under trampling white boots as if they were being tortured and tamed and trees so high would usually be obstacles to simply go around and not climb to surprise what had climbed above. Taking it all in was…depressing.
”Bulba?“ curiosity coming across the mind of the Bulbasaur as its paws drawn back, and concern with the violet haired boy as he stopped in his path and spun around. The pit of a seed merely exposed from the nearly depleted fruit’s form, and the Pokemon observed its surroundings as Orchid tilted his head in that puzzled manner as it had seemed to be greatly on edge. ”Bulbasaur…“
”Something wrong, Bulbasaur?“
Orchid had asked out right. It was the only way to get answers and he certainly was no mind reader. He was not good at communicating either whether with Pokemon or even with the opposite sex, but he knew something had to be wrong to set off the senses of the extremely shy grass-Pokemon. With his blue eyes gazing towards the Pokemon and then lifting skyward to see what little beams of light blotted through the trees and warmed his face, amongst the smallest of sounds, he heard the mighty rustle of a tree.
*CRACK!!!*
Not a common sound to hear in such a forest.
Viridian Forest was like a desolate maze for the inexperienced goer. Orchid was lucky enough to know it by hand and foot. It was usually a path he would take to reach the western side of Kanto when he was in for such a long trek! Mountain Moon was not exactly a good place to go through considering the climbing and his delicate frame. Usually, it was through Diglett’s Tunnel that he found the most interesting walks in from day to day, apart from that one night where he tempered a Dugtrio that nearly plowed the Earthen pathway of the tunnel to a fine till just because the young errand runner did not look where he was stepping.
Ah! Such horrifying memories!
With the map in mind, with a few changes in order as he found some of the paths more twisted with the expected plant growth through the years, Orchid found his way with ease through the thicket of hollows and wood until he had come upon a grove that actually had a shadow in motion. He was slow to approach for the sake of carefulness. Those years of his old “business” kicking in like instinct when it came to keeping his Pokemon friends very insured of their safety, and seeing the shyster of a Bulbasaur being the most fragile, he was very elegant with each step of his sneakers that made the grass bend with ease with his light steps before they planted unmoving while the curious sets of eyes from adventurer and partner caught a hand snapping a Pokeball in place and then gazed on to observe the features of the female in silence.
”Oh! A Pokemon trainer?“ he assumed upon first sight. They were common in Kanto more than coordinators, and now that he thought about it, downwind in the south, they started their journeys here, just like he did. Putting regret and grief aside, he decided not to be rude and simply just put on a warm smile while slipping his fingers of his hands into his wide jacket sleeves that overlapped his palms almost concealing them. As usual, Bulbasaur had assumed its role when meeting someone new, hiding behind and hugging the bell bottom wide pants leg of the Inn Keeper as it looked on with a partially exposed eye.
”Well, greetings! Wel-“ the young boy’s melodic voice started and stopped realizing his bad habit of not leaving the doorstep of the residential inn, ”Sorry! My proper formalities escape me, but I believe the proper wording is ‘good evening,’ yes?~“ his sweet voice sounding off once more as he corrected himself and presented accordingly to the young woman.

"And I dropped this, and I dropped this," the girl said in a meladoic tune, picking up even more berries off of the ground. She had realized that when she fell, so did a bunch of berries that hung off of the trees. And of course, she went right to picking the good ones off that she liked. That, and the ones that weren't bruised. Bruised fruit defiantly weren't good good for eating, for both Pokemon and humans.
Roi merely gave a sigh at the sight; she had just fallen out of a tree, and nearly hurt her self, however she was still walking around as if nothing was wrong; yeah, that Lily was like that, normally blowing things off. [Even a lot of songs she was supposed to write, she fairly rarely got any muse from just sitting down and simply writing them like normal people.] And it didn't seem like she would be leaving the forest for too long, either; she had already picked up a week's worth of berries, and no doubt she would try to pick more using Perap's flying abilities. That probably been safer the first time, really. At least, it would not have atrached any attention.
"Roi, look!" the girl squealed, rushing over to the water type and nearly shoving a Tamato berry in the Pokemon's face, "I betcha Verse would love this!"
"Hm, I bet he would," Roi replied, nodding his head; however, he would laugh if he saw Lily as she tried to eat it; although she ate plenty of the berries before, she still hadn't learned her lesson in not eating them; they burned your lips if you weren't a fire type or immune to their attacks.
”Sorry! My proper formalities escape me, but I believe the proper wording is ‘good evening,’ yes?~“
Lily literally swung her arms around, which were still straight and holding the berry the Tamato berry, as she swung around to the voice she heard; ahead was a boy, with a Bulbasaur clutching to his pant legs. It was cute. Roi followed her gaze, however not as excited and not with the same happy face that she had on; merely with a simple face, as if ignorant to the fact of what the girl was about to do.
"Oh, hi!" the girl gasped happily before putting her hands to her sides, the berry in her right hand. "You must've heard the noise! No worries, that was just me falling out of a tree!.. Well, that and Roi here breaking the branch, but still." She gave a hearty smile, however Roi simply gave her a look.
"You you rather the branch have fallen on you?" he questioned with a simple small smile, receiving a look from the girl in return; it was, however, a comical one, and nothing but a jokefull one as well.
"Oh, shh!" was the best comeback she could muster, which translated to the Slowking as a "Thank You" again, as she put her finger to her lips before turning back to the boy. "Don't listen to him," she joked, before stepping forward and holding out her hand. "I'd Lilian Rapture, Lily for short. Nice to meet you~!"

“I wasn’t born yesterday, I’m perfectly aware how to be happy.” _______________________________ The girl had seemed to be busy picking up her scattered items about as Orchid had stepped onto the scene. He was not the best at speaking to girls, even as he reached eighteen. It was his darkest of weaknesses that he shared even with Bulbasaur one day to boost its morale and to allow it to understand the concept of its frailty. Right now, the small green Pokemon hugging the ankle pants leg of the uncertain Inn Keeper was a play of hilarity upon itself. Regardless however, his concern was greater than his little wicked fear as he stood his ground.
"Oh, hi!" she spoke with a change of posture, "You must've heard the noise! No worries, that was just me falling out of a tree!.. Well, that and Roi here breaking the branch, but still."
Orchid’s face had shown some of the usual changes: confusion. He recalled the crashing sound, not so sharp to notice it was a breaking branch upon first guess, but it was clear he was right…for once. He was not very good at observation, and was not as connected to nature as the delicate little Bulbasaur that hugged at his leg. He had given a glance at the Pokemon only seeing that one big red eye going up to him and part of its mouth curving as it uttered lowly. It was smarter than it gave itself credit for, but the violet haired boy was not as reserved to hand it to the little Pokemon.
“Just?” a brow raising as he tilted his head, “I’d rather not worry when I know you’re okay, but with such optimism you most likely are.”
She had such a strange vibe about her.
The young woman had smiled after saying such words! The young boy looked about the forest settings seeing the scattered berries that were ripe, but torn and scarred. With his eyes going upward, the young boy could clearly see where there were exposed tan workings of a broken branch and leaves that had fallen about, some freshly finally landing after the fall. It made the young girl even more worthy of the “enigmatic” description to wonder what made her so positive. She could have been a naïve new trainer, but with one look at her Pokemon, a Slowking which was so rare to the very region they were within, Orchid begun to have his doubts.
"You you rather the branch have fallen on you? The voice coming from the Slowking shocking young Orchid in the process, even as the young woman shushed it.
“O-oh!” drawing back as he looked at the Pokemon, “It talks?!” his next thought running through his head as he remained silent during the exchange between the two “friends,” (or what he assumed thus far from their relationship, he certainly did not want to impose upon their conversation seeing them have an exchange.
"Don't listen to him," Orchid’s eyes went to the young woman as her voice and gestured hand regained his attention. "I'd Lilian Rapture, Lily for short. Nice to meet you~!"
Orchid’s ears rung hearing the name, and even more, body frozen seeing her reach a hand to him. He was not good at conversations with the opposite sex. He was tempted to say something along the lines of, “Hi! Nice name! I liked a girl with that name who wanted to kill me,” or even worse, “I gotta go,” but that certainly would be rude! The only assurance he felt and the confidence that come to him came from working his usual job and being casual and formal by procedure. With a breath and his fingers sliding from along the back of his other hand, his right hand reached out as he let his cotton white jacket placed itself at their palms with the overlapping sleeves and he had given a gentle handshake with soft hand press.
“It’s nice to meet you, Lily-san,” keeping it simple as he let his eyes go to the Pokemon accompanying the young woman, “Although, I think it’ll be hard not to listen to a talking Pokemon. It’s rare to see a Psychic Pokemon that has mastered speech orally and not through their psychic powers.”
Orchid had seen his share of Pokemon. Although it was nothing astonishing, it was something that was actually heartwarming to him. Even as he let go of Lily’s hand, his gaze remained fixated on the Slowking as he waved to it with the very same hand before slipping it back along the other. The thought of Pokemon mastering communication showed a real bond in his opinion, something he envied considering he had felt he was not as fragile and considerate as other trainers were today as he was when he began his journey. Another depressing though that reminded him it was never too late as he carefully moved his left leg forcing the hiding grass Pokemon into view.
“My name is Xenneth Hikari, but I’m best known as ‘Orchid’ between my jobs,” he had introduced, “…and this Bulbasaur is one of my many assistants.”
“S-saur.”The seed Pokemon tried to regain ground hiding as it mumbled it’s greeting so lowly. Orchid had only sighed with a straight face that slipped a partial smile back upon its face seeing once again, it’s bravery had sunk to incredible levels in the face of casualness compared to that of battles and simple everyday tasks.
“He’s very dependable,” Orchid insisted, “Just not with the greetings.” _______________________________ “I was born the day before yesterday after all.” OOC Notes:Now Listening To: “Happiness” by The FrayCurrent Attire: Default Attire: White T-shirt, White bell bottom pants, white flat bill fitted cap, White sneakers with violet top lining, White jacket with purple Orchid design upon back.
